Biography of Remo Girone

Remo Girone is an actor, born in Asmara, Eritrea (now Ethiopia). He studied at the Institute of Economics and Commerce but decided to pursue a career in acting instead. In 1971, he moved to Rome and enrolled in the National Academy of Dramatic Arts.

Early Career

Girone made his film debut in Miklós Jancsó's "Rome Wants Caesar Again" and gained recognition two years later when he portrayed Konstantin Treplev in Marco Bellocchio's "The Seagull." He became well-known in the theater world for his performances in Enrico D'Amato's "Romeo and Juliet," Luca Ronconi's "Mirra," and Giuseppe Patroni Griffi's "Oreste." His production of Chekhov's "Uncle Vanya," directed by Peter Stein, received great acclaim at the Edinburgh Theater Festival.

Success in "The Octopus"

Girone achieved incredible success with his role as Tano Cariddi in the legendary Italian TV series "The Octopus," which revolved around the mafia. His portrayal of the intelligent and cold-hearted Cariddi became a symbol of the tragedy faced by strong and lonely individuals. Throughout the series, Girone acted alongside esteemed actors such as Michele Placido, Alan Cuny, Giuliana de Sio, Marcello Tusco, Simona Cavallari, Bruno Cremer, Patricia Millarde, Elena Arvigo, and Rolf Hoppe.

Directorial Works

Personal Life

In 1982, Remo Girone married Argentine actress Victoria Zinny. They currently reside in their Rome home with Zinny's children from a previous marriage, Carlo and Veronica Zinny.
